Part 2 – Help Alayne! My Hair is Falling out.

Well here it is! Part 2 of my tips to prevent hair loss!

We had so many comments about part 1 of this series about why your hair might be falling out, and here it is, Part 2 … With the good news!  There are many options to minimize hair loss and regrow healthy hair.  So, lets get started.

Hair-loss prevention depends on the underlying cause. Of course, treatment of underlying medical conditions like thyroid disease, anemia, and hormonal imbalances may be useful in preventing continued hair loss. So talk to your doctor if think you may have a medical condition but also try these tips to minimize hair loss:

Start with good nutrition. Especially adequate levels of iron and vitamin B, not just Biotin but the full range of vitamin B. Also take  Vitamin D and Iron, (look for a chelated or non constipating one.) Find HUM vitamins at Make Me Fabulous very soon!  Which have unique blends of vitamins, minerals and organic herbs to target your specific beauty needs from the inside.  Also, eat those fruits and vegetables, which are rich in vitamin A, B, Iron and protein. Examples: carrot, spinach, lentil, milk, cheese, dark green vegetables, fortified cereals, etc.  If you have sensitivity to gluten or dairy eliminate those ingredients from your hair products as well.  The Schwarzkopf and Colorproof lines we carry are both gluten free.  Eliminate whey in any hair and skin products if you have an issue with dairy products.  Volumizing or plumping products generally contain whey.

Ease up on the Heat. Many hair experts suggest putting away the blow dryer and air drying your hair instead. If you can’t live without your blow dryer, use it on a low-heat setting. Styling your hair while it’s wet can cause it to stretch and break. So style your hair when it’s dry or damp. Avoid teasing or back-combing your hair because they can cause damage. Ask your #teamfab stylist to show you some quick and easy non-heat styling options to do while sleeping or on the fly in the am.

Yoga for hair loss control and management. Yoga is the best therapy to combat stress, anxiety, depression and tension. These negative domains of health play important roles to suppress the body and also contribute to hair problems. Yoga such as Shirsasana (Headstand pose), Sarvangasana (Shoulder stand pose) and Viprit Karni increases blood supply to the scalp region and prevents thinning of hair. Meditation, Pranayama and relaxation yogic techniques greatly help to ease stress.ASANA_C

Scalp massage. Use simple scalp massage techniques and formulations to prevent hair loss. Massage scalp with oil such as coconut oil or vitamin E oil.  Even massaging with lemon juice has been known to be effective if you have build up on the scalp. Unfortunately, this may lighten hair or make it brassy. Do gentle massage to your scalp daily for 4 minutes as it helps to improve blood circulation and thereby hair growth. You may also consider using BC Plumping Tonic described in more detail below or Bumble and Bumble Thickening Serum. My own daughter who takes medication that thins her hair for an autoimmune condition tried this one in a manner known as “the inversion method,” where you massage your scalp daily with one of the treatment products listed above with your head upside for 4 minutes daily for 7 days in a row each month. I think her hair never looked better!

Scalp Exfoliation. My search also brought me to the benefits of exfoliating the scalp.  A gentle exfoliator removes build-up and residue to refresh, restore and revitalize the scalp.  Tea tree oil is said to be a good oil to use for scalp exfoliation or, we found a completely natural plant based product now available at MMF.  Try Neu scalp therapy from Neuma– featuring a proprietary blend of plant extracts and essential oils.  Can be used weekly, or as needed, to help maintain and promote healthy scalp and hair. Safe for color treated hair also extends the life and vibrancy of hair color. Rinse hair. Lather with reNeu shampoo™. Apply reNeu scalp therapy™ directly to scalp and massage with fingertips. Leave on 2 minutes. Contains ZERO synthetic fragrance, sulfates, sodium chloride, parabens, 1,4-dioxane, phthalates, glutens, neurotoxins, aluminum compounds, glycols, formaldehyde donors, ureas, carcinogens, environmental pollutants – simply a genuine, sustainable brand. • Renewable, beneficial, plant-based, colour safe ingredients • Certified Organic Extracts • 90% post consumer recycled bottles • 100% certified wind power • 100% recycled fiber containers • Vegan • PETA approved • No animal testingneuma

Bumble and Bumble Full Potential is an additional exfoliating therapy and more.  A professional, hair-preserving shampoo, conditioner and spray for fuller, stronger hair. When used as a regimen, it helps reduce hair loss* by 46% in one month. Infused with Hair Preserve Blend™, this invigorating, exfoliating treatment creates an optimal scalp environment by removing sebum and product build-up. The Hair Preserve Blend™ acts like a “liquid bandage” to promote strength and elasticity for thicker-feeling hair.full potential

Use Detox Shampoo once a week: Once a week use Colorproof’s Detox Shampoo to fully clean the scalp and eliminate any clogging products or residue.  This technique is amazing and your hair becomes softer with every detox shampoo we have seen clients need to be shampooed initially anywhere from 3 to 7 times to fully breakdown buildup.
